Fall is my favorite time of the year and I'm just thrilled with all of the beautiful creations that Anthro is releasing for the fall and winter. I want just about all of the sweaters and jackets!

Here is my first of reviews for the fall.

Ruffled Plaid Dress

Spiffed up with an asymmetrical ruffle and an ivory bud, your granny's tartan frock has been transformed into a creation for the modern gal without losing its magical sense of nostalgia. By Floreat.



I couldn't wait to try this dress on after I fell in love with it online. The dress is just as beautiful in person. Sadly, the store did not have my usual size 6 so I tried on the 8. The dress fit very well in most places. However, the arm-holes were way too big for my liking. I might consider this on sale, but not full price due the issue with the arm-holes.

Dried Leaves Dress
As autumn turns, trees shed their leaves along the neckline of delicately seamed boiled wool. By Girls from Savoy.



This style dress is not one that I would traditionally gravitate to. However, I saw the review on the In Pursuit of Pretty things blog and I fell in love. One of the bloggers from that page paired the dress with a white collared shirt and it looks so darling. I didn't have a white collared shirt with me at the time of this photo, but I tried to make do with another top. I took a medium in this dress and the fit was quite comfortable. I bought this dress and can't wait to pair it with a white colloared shirt, cute tights and Mary-Jane shoes in the winter!

Sugar-Coated Shirt Dress

A sprinkling of candied treats tops Edme & Esyllte's crisp cotton frock, sweetening each fold from the collared neckline to the A-line skirt. Roll the sleeves up to show a cherry-red lining, or leave them loose to tie at the elbow.



I want to love this dress. I really do. Sadly, I don't think my wanting to love the dress will cause me to truly love it. I love the idea of the drses and I even like the fit of the size 6. However, I can't get over the idea that this dress reminds me of Little House on the Prairie or a sad frumpy dress from the 40's that secretly yearns to be a bright and vibrant dress. Oh well.

Garment District Blazer

A daring detail in the midst of proper plaid, the feather on the lapel of Elevenses' blazer adds some twist to traditional tailoring.



I'm a girl who loves (LOVES) jackets and coats. This one caught me eye online and I was so excited to see it in my store. I love the plaid and the small details that really make this jacket (the feather, ruffles, etc). I found the fit to run a bit small so I sized up to an 8. The 8 fit comfortably with a little room to spair. Wish-listed!

Oxer Jacket

Lithe ruffles jump from one side to the other on Tabitha's tweed topper, nimbly scaling a pair of front flap pockets.



Have I mentioned that I love jackets? This jacket is darling with the ruffle details. It is a light-weight jacket and will be perfect for fall and the light Georgia winter. I took my usual size 6 in this jacket.

Boucle De Souffle Jacket

With a slightly nubby texture, this cropped silhouette curves into a well-tailored coat topped with a treat of frill. By Elevenses.



Yes, this is yet another jacket review. I love this sweet jacket. It has amazing details and a fun lining on the inside. This jacket runs a bit big so I took this in a size 4. I adored this jacket and it came home with me. I purchased this in the ivory color as I felt that this color showed the details off and the ivory is very rich looking. I can't wait to pair it with a black tank underneath, black pants...and perhaps some fun red shoes for a pop of color.

My trip to LA and a few reviews

Hi All!

I had a mini-vacation in LA last weekend to see Chris Pine in the Lt. of Inishmore at the Mark Taper Forum. I was able to meet with him on Saturday night and Sunday night. The show was fantastic and Chris was very gracious. Pictures from my meetings with him are below. I wore the Horizon Line Dress on Saturday night and the Free Flow Tank on Sunday night with a sweater.



While in LA, I also visited the wonderful Anthro in Santa Monica. I tried on a few things and they are listed below.

Precious Materials Cardigan

Gold sequins glint from an embroidered bow that holds together a zig-zagging boundary between ebony and ivory cotton-cashmere. By Moth.



I loved this cardigan and the little details! I tried on the size small and I was happy with the fit. This is definitely on my wish list for the fall.

In A Twinkling Dress

Spritely metallic dots flit and flash atop Maeve's collared voile frock, so quickly you'll wonder if they're really there.



I never gave this dress a second glance until it went on sale. Crazy how a sale can change ones perspective. I loved this dress in person and did not find it itchy at all. I couldn't resist the sale price and it came home with me. I have on a 4 in this photo, but opted to take home the 6 just to have a little extra breathing room.

Unveiled Tank with the Circle the Globe Skirt



I tried on the Unveiled Tank in the raspberry color in a small, which is a color that I would normally stay away from. However, I really liked this dressier take on a tank with the black Circle the Globe skirt (size 4). The skirt came home with me and the top is now on my wish list.

Hi Everyone!

I'm traveling to Los Angeles this weekend and I can't wait to visit with my friends, see the city, go to Santa Monica and visit several Anthro's while there!

I'm going to have the opportunity to see a play at the Mark Taper Forum. The play is called "The Lieutenant of Inishmore" and it stars my favorite actor, Chris Pine (who recently starred as Captain Kirk in the new Star Trek film). I met him last year and two images are below.



I might have the opportunity to meet him again this year after the show. Because of this, I'm struggling to decide what to wear! Several dress options are below. Please let me know which dress option you think would work best for this event.

Floreat - Clock Skirt



I first saw this skirt on Sara's blog. Sara reviewed this skirt on her "You, Me & Anthropologie" blog: http://youmeandanthropologie.blogspot.com/2010/06/clock-skirt-review-is-here.html#comments

I was so excited about this skirt once I saw Sara's review. I visited my local Anthro on Thursday and I was in luck! They had the skirt! I tried on both a size 4 and a size 6. The 6 worked better for me...if you are in between sizes I would recommend going with the larger size. This skirt was a lot of fun and I loved it! I highly recommend it.

Tambour Blouse
A dainty, capped-sleeved frame contains airy ruffles and rows of intricate eyeleting. By Floreat.



Floreat does not disappoint with this top. This blouse has beautiful details. Pleas note that this shirt runs large. I usually wear a 4 or 6 in tops and had to size down to a 2 in this top. I will definitely pick this up when it goes on Sale.

Vagabond Dress
It's hard to pin down Sine's jersey frock, with its this-a-way, that-a-way ruching, swishy godet-inset hemline and flighty bubble sleeves. Where will it end up? Your guess is as good as ours.



Many reviewers have complained about the weight of this dress. I didn't mind it. Upon seeing it on Anthro's site, I had decided that I wanted this dress in black. However, the blue was lovely and I couldn't resist trying it on instead. I loved this dress and I found it to be figure flattering. I took a small in this dress.

Time Gone By Dress
As if plucked from another era, Maeve's vintage-inspired frock, with its circle skirt, flutter sleeves and silky trim, exudes the charm of yesteryear.




At last...I was finally able to try on the Time Gone by Dress. I love retro-styled clothing and this dress was just the embodiment of all things retro and frilly. I'm undecided on the color as I think it washes me out...but I think I could add some pops of color with shoes and the right necklace. I took a size 4 in this dress. It was a tad big in the bust area so I tried on to see how the 2 would work. I was able to zip up the 2 and it fit fine standing up...but it proved to be too tight when I sat down. I would stick with the 4. Wishlisted!

June Reviews

Graphical Dress
Boldly hued and patterned, a silk ring circles your waist between panels of purest blue poplin. By Edme & Esyllte.



Let me preface this review by saying that as a red-head, I have always been told to stay away from wearing red, pink, orange, etc. I was so excited to see this dress in my store. Sadly, they did not have my size in the blue...so I just went ahead and tried on the red/orange for sizing. I know this isn't my color. However, I loved the dress itself. I have on a size 4 and it fit great! The straps were a little long but it turns out that they are adjustable! I really loved this dress and I plan on purchasing it online in the blue.

Know the Ropes Dress
Prove your style savvy in Moulinette Soeurs' asymmetrically aligned chiffon A-line, gridded in knotted coils.



I was intrigued by this dress online and decided to give it a try. I didn't mind the fit or the different straps. However, I just couldn't get past the pattern on this dress. Back to the rack!

Weisshorn Blouse
Find a hidden valley with daisies abloom tucked amongst stark tufts of Swiss dot cotton. By Girls from Savoy.



I love all things vintage inspired and this top was no exception. I drooled over it online! I tried on a size 4 (pictured above) and it was definitely too big. I didn't give up on this top and decided to try a size 2 on instead. It fit perfectly and it made me feel much better about the top. This is now on my wish list!

Tiny Windows Dress
Lilliputian twirls grace the shoulders of Maeve's poplin shirtdress, encouraging a gentle breeze to cool your skin.



I loved this dress online and couldn't wait to try it on. Sadly, I was disappointed. I own the Beda dress in green and I love it so much more. The color on this dress was drab, it wrinkled easily and I did feel a bit waitress-like in it. I will say that the dress fits true to size and I took a 4. I might consider this on Sale, but I would not pay full price for it.

Laurenti Circle Skirt
What do you see in the print of Edme & Esyllte's voile beauty? Clusters of honeycombs? An abstract composition? A hint of reptilian guile?



I saw this skirt as I was walking to the dressing room and decided to try it on as I'm on a bit of skirt kick lately. I tried this on in a 4 and it fit true to size. The skirt was fun but it is not something I would pay pull price for. I will reconsider this skirt when it goes on sale.

A few May reviews and recent purchases

Hi All!

I apologize for my lack of posts recently. I had an amazing time on my Med cruise (I'll post some pics soon) and I've spent the past few weeks working...a lot. In between work, I have managed to make one trip to Anthro and I also made several purchases from the sale last week.

Here are a few reviews and I will also list the items that I have recently purchased (but I just don't have photos in the items yet).

Weave-The-Ring Skirt
A pleated bow peplum adorns the waist of Odille's high-stepping gingham A-line as a crinkled flounce beneath gives it a swirly, girlie feel.



Please ignore my pants underneath the skirt. I saw this skirt reviewed by several other bloggers and I fell in love with it. I couldn't wait to try it on. I loved it even more in person! It definitely has a retro/I Love Lucy vibe to it and it does make you want to twirl. I took a 4 in this. This skirt came home with me and I highly recommend it.

Raccoon Rumpus Blouse
Antique interpretations of furry friends playfully pattern a sweet, swiss dot surplice top. By Rebekah Maysles in collaboration with Anthropologie.



I will admit that this top is very quirky. Raccoons? Really? But, I find the quirkiness of it endearing. I can either wear a 4 or 6 in tops. I was able to put on the 4, but it was a bit tight for my lacking. I prefer the 6. The top is a bit shear and I would recommend wearing a cami underneath.

Imelda Cardigan
Exhibiting a shoe collection worthy of true admiration, this lightweight layer brings a playful sensibility to jeans, flouncy skirts and fitted shifts.



While I liked the quirkiness of the Raccoon Rumpus blouse, I did not care for this quirky shoe shirt. I felt like it aged me a lot and I just wasn't feeling it. Back to the rack for this one.

Elevated Eyelet Blazer
Twining lace grows atop crisp voile, providing airy avenues for the sun to shine through to your tees or tanks. By Tiakonhu.



This blazer is not photogenic. Photos make it look dull and not exciting at all. However, it is quite lovely in person and the colors up close are very pretty. I recommend giving this cute jacket a shot if you see it in store. My one complaint is that I wish it had two buttons instead of just one.

Alena Skirt
Flowing georgette with a flatteringly fitted yoke. By Odille.



I read that this skirt ran on the smaller side and I'm so glad I listened. I took the 6 in this and it fits great!

Blue Book Blouse
Expert tailoring, lace edging and a full placket of ruffles put this superbly smart top at the head of the class. By Odille.



I was able to put on the 4, but I prefer to have more room in my tops. I decided to take the 6 instead and it worked out great.

Zipped Rosettes Jacket
A tiny golden zipper traces every curve and petal on this lightweight cotton-linen piece. By Elevenses.



I read that this jacket ran a little large and the reviewers were correct. I took this in a size 4 and it worked out great. I wore it today and received lots of compliments on it! :)

Do-Si-Do Skirt



This skirt definitely has a retro/picnic feel to it but I still love it. I took this in a size 4. I plan on wearing it with a purple top (there is purple in the flowers) and a cardigan.

Second Batch of April Reviews

Hi Everyone!

I'm getting nervous. I'm going on a Mediterranean cruise next week on a Royal Caribbean ship. It will be for 12 glorious nights and the ports of call include Italy, Greece, Sicily, Turkey and Egypt! We fly from Atlanta to Rome on Friday. The reason why I'm nervous? This volcano ordeal in Iceland is cancelling thousands of flights in Europe. So far Italy is in the clear. Fingers crossed that it stays that way!

Enough of my rant. I visited my local Atlanta Anthro this evening and tried on a new batch of clothes. The reviews are below! :)

Crossroads Tee
Follow the braided and ruched pathways as they converge and diverge atop fine-gauge sweaterknit. By C. Keer.



This is a nice twist on a tee and I love the green color. (As you will be able to tell from this batch of reviews...I really do love green!) I'm wearing the small here. I tried on the medium too, but it did not work.

Gaillardia Skirt (with the Blooming Lattice Cardigan)
Whopping daisies pop from a field of bright green jersey, styled into a swingy circle.



I know that this is just an explosion of green! I wouldn't wear this much green together (plus I look like I'm going to a sock-hop) but I ended up trying these two items on together because I was giving the Blooming Lattice Cardigan a second chance.

The skirt is fun and really comfortable. I have on the medium and it was too big at the waist. I would need to size down to a small. This skirt would be great for summer. However, I will wait for a sale.

I have tried on the Blooming Lattice Cardigan previously but didn't love it. I gave it another chance tonight and I still don't love it. It's cropped (and I have enough cropped sweaters at this point) and the buttons appear to pull even though the sweater had plenty of room. I want to love it, but I don't. Pass.

Lettuce Florets Blouse
A crisp cotton field of cultivated greens and sprouted buttons unfolds with a leafy ruffled collar. By Girls From Savoy



I adored this top online and couldn't wait to try it on. However, many reviews stated that it was boxy. Those reviews were correct! The top runs big (I have on the 4 here) and it is very boxy and unflattering from the back or side. It's too bad because this top had a lot of potential!

Two-Wheeler Shirtdress
Penny-farthings and bicycles cruise in all directions on Porridges poplin frock, passing through a buttoned path and cap sleeve curves.



This dress is adorable, but just did not work for me. It runs big (I have on the six here and I'm pinching the extra fabric on the side). It looks lovely on many other bloggers but this is another pass for me.

Beda Dress
A sprinkling of textured dots rains down upon Maeve's crisp cotton frock, as a cloud-like lace inset drifts across the bodice.





This dress seems to be very popular and now I understand why! I loved it! I really want the green version but my store only had the white. This dress runs on the larger size and I sized down to a 4 (instead of my usual six). I love the details, the retro vibe, the fit, the length and everything else about it! This dress will be so great for the summer. I can't wait to get the green version!

Rising Battenberg Dress

I will be honest. I did not like this dress on the website. It was not something that I was attracted to at all. However, I recently went to Anthropologie and I was drawn to this dress as soon as I saw it hanging on the rack. The dress is made of silk and it is lovely in person. The details are amazing. It ran a little big. I am usually a 6 but took a 4 in this dress. I fell in love with the dress and plan on taking it on my cruise later this month. I just need to find shoes to go with it!

I purchased the below headband from Anthro to go with this dress:



Cattleya Cardi
A floral applique, abundant with photo-printed petals, lends and a bit of femme flair to bold geometric stripes. By Yellow Bird.



This new sweater comes in green and purple. I was originally drawn to the purple. However, they did not have my size in the purple so I tried on the green. I ended up really liking the green and it came home with me. I usually take a small or medium sweaters. I fell this one ran on the larger size so I took the small.

Mystery Top (By Ruffian....I think)



This mystery top was at the Atlanta Anthro and it looked quite nice so I gave it a try. It has great details. However, the sleeves are too puffy for my liking. Otherwise, it is a nice top.
